Last month we got a mushroom growing kit. It is just a small bag of veg compost and mushrooms spores but after some time spent under our sofa we have picked 5 mushrooms and there are more on the way. We paid 8e for the kit so it is not cheaper to grown your own, but it is way more fun and loads taster.

The homegrown mushrooms are whiter and harder.
I fried a mix of the two kinds of mushrooms in salty Irish butter and fresh thyme.
You always wanted to farm. Who would have thought the pasture would be under the couch. Guess Saeid really is a Fun-guy.
ReplyDeleteLOL Maria. Well Angee at least now you know how it's done. I would probably stick to store bought although sometimes I wonder where they're grown. We have them locally grown here in La....in the swamp....ummm....not sure about that.

ReplyDeleteFungi! Love it! I'm sure stickmayo's mushrooms are grown indoors, so no worries about turning into swampthing. Shawn told us how store mushrooms are grown. In big long windowless warehouses at the perfect temp all the time.
